A bit about the tune.
While on work-experience in Wards music shop, Donegal town, i meet a great box player - Martin Wilson. Martin is a relative of Johnny Doherty and has a huge collection of his tunes on old recordings but mostly in his head and its unbelievable the amount of tunes that i have learned by ear from his lilting.
On my last day, he gave me a tape that he recorded of the radio in the early 70's and on it i found this tune along with a load of others including the highland "the millroad devil" which im going to post shortly.
I have never heard this tune being played before and i assume that it hasnt been recorded.
it was named after the pub "biddies of barnes" on the road from donegal town to Ballybofey.
Nothing left to say now apart from: Hope you enjoy it, and let me know what you all think of it!
Mairtín.

Great tune Martin, and a good story to go with it. I really appreciate that you've shown us the chain of people who've passed this tune along. Especially playing tunes here in Montana, it adds a sense of connectedness to the tradition to trace them back to the likes of John Doherty. More, we want more!
