I've included chords here not just for guitarists, but also as an indication for fiddlers as to where some double-stops might sound good. The long E at the start, for instance, could be played together with a B, and the Ds and As could played together with an open D string.

A nice effect with double-stops is to start a bit flat, and slide the shape up. Don't go overboard with double-stops, though: moderation is the key.

Because this tune sounds nice played slowly, and because there are such long notes in it, there's plenty of room for rolls and triplets. In fact, I like to use this tune as a testing ground for trying out all different kinds of ornamentation.

Bundle and Go -- Bonnie Wee Charlie

I first heard this jig as a comic song sung by the late Fermanagh fiddler Mick Hoy. Unfortunately, I never got the words. I remember part of a verse sung to the high part of the tune. As follies:

The lassies, ye see, they were tickling me
There was one called Molly McCusker
And when trying to kiss me on the kisser, ye see,
Sure, she bit off the half of my whiskers.

Any body ever hear of this and have the words?

I Lost My Love

This is a version of a tune I know as I Lost My Love . Now where did I learn it. I think it was already in the repertoire of a band I used to play with when I joined. I have a feeling that it may appear in that old collection Allan's Irish Fiddler, but I'm too lazy to look for my copy to check. Anyway, grand tune.

But yeah, oh but, oh but, but yeah, but, yeah ~

Do you get "Little Britain" in Oz, or has the great wizard outlawed such things?

# Posted on July 13th 2006 by ceolachan

Yeah we do but anyway Destiny who used to be my best friend till she flicked cigarette ash in my hair has it on DVD but don't borrow it off her because you'll get the lergy because she totally picks her own scabs and smells of wee.

I don't think I want to sit near her at anytime either, and if you know which seat she sticks to, let me know so I can avoid it...

# Posted on July 13th 2006 by ceolachan

Is she another one of your English concertina playing pals? :-P

# Posted on July 13th 2006 by ceolachan

She probably doesn't shave and plays "Give me Your Hand" anytime she gets an opening...and does a bad imitation of Joni Mitchell if given the opportunity to sing...
