River John Sunset Waltz
A nice Canadian waltz from Prince Edward Island.
Comments from The Fiddler's Companion:
Canadian, Waltz. Canada, Prince Edward Island. D Major. Standard. AABB. Composed by Nova Scotia musician Florence Killen, the tune was popularized by New Brunswick fiddler Ivan Hicks. Central New York fiddler Chad Miller reports that the tune has become somewhat of a ‘standard’ in his region, learned from visiting Canadian fiddlers. Source for notated version: Archie Stewart (b. 1917, Milltown Cross, South Kings County, Prince Edward Island) [Perlman]. Perlman (The Fiddle Music of Prince Edward Island), 1996; pg. 172.
