What's that?
It's basically a bluegrass tune, written by or in tribute to Bill Monroe. It has nothing remotely Irish trad, but it sounds great all the same (in A on a C#D box)

I once met Big Mon backstage at a BG festival. He was indeed a big man, tall, impressive white hair, hale and hearty in his 80’s. I remember his huge hands, cradling his Lloyd Loar, which has been likened to the rib cage of a hawk. Stern and proud. His fiery playing was sadly on the way out, but his impeccable timing and choice of notes was intact and a revelation to hear.
A pair of ladies “of a certain age”, dyed jet black hair and dressed in matching ruffled brown plaid gingham bo-peep dresses - looking like waitresses from a Bob Evans restaurant - came tripping hand-in-hand over the meadow. “Mister MONroe, will you sing us a luuurv song?” They cooed like pigeons. He spun on his heel, touched a finger to the brim of his Stetson, and purred, “Why, certainly, ladies.” I thought, wow, bluegrass groupies.
This is a great tune.

I’m kinda glad to hear somebody say that, although I would narrow it down to bluegrass/new-acoustic. For years, I’ve been hearing about The Next Young Gun who “blows Tony away”, but when I hear TNYG, all I can say is, “Wow, that’s fast. Now go away so I can listen to Tony.” Nobody can top Tony’s tone, taste and cool licks, so they just play faster.
Now, back to the topic.

As far as I remember all 3 are in some mode of A (I play Big Mon in A on my C#D box).
i play this tune along with Andy Renwick's Ferret and Joe Cormier's Reel (3 parts Cape Breton (?) reel, I'll submit it one of these days), the order depending on my memory
