"Sláinte ag an Doras" ~ Yamadasan's missing breafast ~ ;-) ~

~ just a few variations on the first half of measure one:

| FEFG
| ~F3 G
| FE (3EFG
| (3FFF (3EFG
| FE (3FFG
| FADF

~ and all those opportunities for a feast of triplets...a favourite meal of our friend Hiroyuki, alias Hiro, alias Kieran...
I expect he'll find a slew of tunes I've robbed this from, but not intentionally or in full consciousness...

This came to me as a single reel ~ whoosh! ~ and it was there, but I think I can hear a highland in there too, now let's see, what second ending should that lead to?...

Can anybody recommend a good Japanese cookbook?

One of the last things he said as we parted company was that he missed Japanese food. We have at least a year before his next visit to these isles... He's also cleared me out of all my white tea and I don't have a source anymore. What are we to do? I'll either have to arrange our vacation time in sequence to his visit, so we're away, or hit the Asian supermarkets in Manchester to stock up on things, including octapus, one of his claimed favourites, and one of mine too, but all I ever ate it with was soy sauce, nothing fancy...

# Posted on March 24th 2006 by ceolachan

Damn, now I'm playing it also as a double reel.... Hell, even if it is under any influences I' m having a hell of a lot of fun playing it all sorts of ways...

"Mulhaire's" in quadrophonic ~ 4 of 4? ~ not exactly...

Dow has chastised me... It seems my screwing around with numerous versions of "Mulhaire's", and under various aliases and repeats here on site, has surfaced in the run of this number for Hiroyuki, but, hey, it is only in the A-part of the tune, and if we were to chop out every tune that had a part of another, well, we'd have to give up at least a third of what's on site and elsewhere... So, while I have to concede this influence, the B-part is altogether different

I also have a vague recollection of having played a French Canadian number that also went similarly in the A-part... I'll spend some time with it and see if the A-part evolves away from that of "Mulhaire's"...

"Sláinte ag an Doras" ~ seeking a more original take:

Alright, as Dow is refusing to play this because the first half is too close to another tune he plays, my bangers and mash memory, here it is transformed as I sit here scratching away at it, and I hope this suits the conceited little ****, no, actually, I'm glad he is who he is and wouldn't have it any other way, besdies, slainte / Hiroyuki / Kieran deserves the consideration of something a little less repetitive or associative ~ apologies to all ~

| FE (3FFG A2 da |

~ and all those opportunities for a feast of triplets still exists for the lad's delectation...
I expect he's still likely to find a slew more of relatives amongst the mass on site here, but Dow/Mark beat him to the first draw, but as said, it wasn't an intentional steal and I wasn't in a fully conscious state this morning when I was dancing around the place playing this and waking up the neighbours...

# Posted on March 25th 2006 by ceolachan

I have reported my infraction to "he who is in charge"... So give over, forgive me my plagiaristic slip, my sin, oh Dow of the Tao...

# Posted on March 25th 2006 by ceolachan

Somehow the original plagiarism of the A-part is kind of appropriate for the subject of the piece ~ meaning Hiroyuki, alias 'slainte'... It is the sort of thing that would bring he and Dow / Mark out from behind the plasterboard...spray paint in hand and that grafitti glow in their eyes...

# Posted on March 25th 2006 by ceolachan

By the way, 'plagiarism' was how Dow / Mark put it...

# Posted on March 25th 2006 by ceolachan

That is *so* unfair! C'mon, you surely wouldn't expect me to keep quiet about it if I recognised the tune 'c'?!

# Posted on March 25th 2006 by Dow

I feel like a right spoilsport now. Maybe I should've kept my big gob shut. At least it proves I'm looking at the tune and playing it through :-)

# Posted on March 25th 2006 by Dow

Now that would be novel ~ you keepin' your gob shut. I would be so very disappointed. One of the few reasons I make a show here is because of you ~ making regular checks on what comes out of your gob, or, as Hiro says you are 'quiet', what comes from the tips of your clickity-click-click fingers... ;-)

Who loves yuh babe?

# Posted on March 25th 2006 by ceolachan

I like your old concertina, as when I heard it there was the clickity-click-click and it sounds almost as if there were someone dancing in the background ~ a faltering step... ;-)

I hope you know I only jest. I sometimes feel I have to use smileys for fear someone is going to take me too seriously. I am chuffed that anyone takes the time to slap my wrist. I like being caught out, just as I like it when someone gives me an understanding that makes me reassess any preconceptions I may have allowed to cloud my perceptions on things. I had me in stitches as it was quickly clear my messing with Mulhaire's "The Old/Auld Thatched House" had taken me over and carried me elsewhere. I had been beating that tune to death not that long ago, as well as struggling to remember and find a French connection, a Quebecois take on the melody I kind of half remember, either that or Prince Edward Island, or maybe Cape Breton, or possibly even in the middle ground ~ Iles de la Madeleine, a visiting fisherman/fiddler I've had the pleasure of hearing in Cheticamp, one of the finest fiddlers whose playing I have ever fallen in love with... I couldn't keep still, heart or feet or the rest of my wanting to dance being... But, I never did remember that way with it, whatever its source, but instead it bubbled up this week with this twist on it, and now, finally, a different A-part. It's been fun, I just hope some others enjoy the final result...but most especially, that Hiro does as I was thinking of him and the trials I put him through, possibly equal to Hercules? ~ but our 'Hiro'...

( ~ this should call for a smiley of some sort but I haven't quite mastered the grimace...)

# Posted on March 25th 2006 by ceolachan

Just for the craic, here's more triplet possibilities for the B-part, a snack for Hiro, hopefully not akin to those dried chewy salty plums Dow hates, with some crunch instead, maybe like those shrimp flavoured rice crackers?

Eating words ~

I had so rashly released into this digital realm, and about a valued 'friend' ~ I should know better, but sometimes I am what I might call, rather than using 'clueless' or 'thick', not fully present or cogent ~ I have a problem with sometimes teasing those I value, and sometimes overstepping the 'Mark'... ;-) Dow/Mark is neither 'conceited', 'little', or any of the negative possibilities that fit into the four letter category of '****'... The latter I leave to your imagination, as I usually spell the expected term with six letters and not four, or 'shight'... If anything, I sometimes suffer those words myself, in my lesser states of being, where I can be less than considerate, but never really what you could call 'conceit', though some have at times seen it that way. I have been beneath my better nature, or 'little', and there are a number of four lettter words I have been called over time... I never thought this entry would last, but alas it has, so I have to make some restitution. Like with the newspapers, it is buried here in the comments of a tune lost in the flow or contributions... So, to put it how I really feel about this man, real or virtual, I consider him 'generous' and big of heart, and a ' ~ ' = infinite possibilities...
:P

# Posted on March 26th 2006 by ceolachan

I knew you'd say that. Oh well I suppose I could milk it and act all offended so I can hear some of those nice compliments and watch you grovel for a while whilst I sip my coffee. You would make an extremely entertaining one-man radio show, although maybe if you were to do that you'd have to put on that Ulster accent of yours. Not that there's anything with your natural accent. Don't go thinking that now :-)

# Posted on March 27th 2006 by Dow

Clare, not Ulster, how dare you... I am deeply offended now and am going to go to my corner and face the 90 degrees and hum to myself....

# Posted on March 27th 2006 by ceolachan

Well, not so offended, Ulster too, which is a place I love deeply, all eight counties of it and then some. It really depends on my mood and what I'm playing at the time. Sometimes it's Geogia, but I'm not saying what continent... ;-)

# Posted on March 27th 2006 by ceolachan

9 counties surely? The "occupied" 6 plus Monaghan, Cavan and Tirconnel (AKA Donegal)

:~}

# Posted on March 30th 2006 by Key Maniac Lad

Right you are Danny ~ my maths failed me...

# Posted on March 30th 2006 by ceolachan

I didn't count Cavan in... It's my loss, I never spent much time there and only passed through going one way or the other. I owe it some time and consideration...a debt unpaid?!

# Posted on March 30th 2006 by ceolachan

Terribly sorry to be late. I noticed the title of this tune refers to me several days ago, but the hangover from the previous night's session with Dr. MacKay made me an even slower typer, and all the coins I had for the computer disappeared very quickly.

I take this as a fling: it sounds much fancier. Cheers 'c' for a fun tune.

# Posted on March 30th 2006 by slainte

Coins for Computers???

I bet it's just that you like the aliteration and the more direct reference ~ "Hiro's Highland"... Coins for the computer? Are you being budgeted for your Internet access? Are you meaning yen? I have this awful vision of you sitting in front of something like one of those steel ball pin ball things people used to bet on over there, I had one as a kid, and feeding in coin after coin as you try to type at the same time... I've not seen a coin operated computer yet. It must be my hermit-like existence... ;-)

This is very unfair, 'c'. I've been trying not to reveal much about you, especially your real name.

As for Dow's personality, he's actually not so shy or quiet as me.

# Posted on March 31st 2006 by slainte

"The Hiro Quickstep" ;-)

Huh? ~ You 'shy' and 'quiet'? You're just trying to cushion the flow for those you haven't yet visited...

Dow sent us several reams of print out on how we needed to behave in Hiro's presence, and about what he would and wouldn't eat and what he would and wouldn't find an affront... Now I know what is meant by 'walking on eggshells'... So, if there is anyone else out there our Hiro is planning t o visit and you need a guide as to how to prepare and handle the man, contact Dow/Mark...

While I'm at it, I realized I made a bit of a mess on missing the repeat sign for the B-part, for "The Hiro Highland" ~
