Wolves a-Howlin'
I've thought twice about posting this. There's been some concern expressed about how far and how often we stray from Irish dance music on this database, and I definitely see that point of view. On the other hand, I'm posting this tune from the American old-timey tradition for the following reasons:
1. It's a good tune. Lot's of opportunity for open string droning, or if you're fond of scordatura, I'm told it sits well in AEAE. Should be lots of fun on the pipes
This morning I found myself humming the tune around the house, finally sat down with the fiddle and worked out the abc's.
2. There's a good chance it's actually derived from the Irish tradition, as are many old-timey fiddle tunes. Nothing would tickle me more than to learn that it's No.five hundred something from O'Neil's, or that it's a fragment of a clan march - maybe one of the more learned members of the site will recognise it
3. A pack of coyotes woke me in the wee hours last night, wailing in the snow covered fields behind our home. I took it as a sign.

Wolves a'Howlin
That pair of quavers at the end of the first bar doesn't show up on the screen, only when you print does it not look like 5 beats in the first bar !
