Originally a 2/4 reel
I believe this was originally written in 2/4 time but I altered it so I could add the tune here.
I'm not sure about its history but it's part of a set I play Angus Reel(Miss Jean Milligan), Petronella, and The Black Dance. I learned it at a fiddlers scoiety but this set was actually recorded a long time back by Jimmy Shand and I've also got it on a 78.
It is a lovely tune and can sound nice with a slower treatment. Dagger Gordon does a really nice version on his "Frozen river" album in the key of "F". I've also known it to be played in "G".
