A tune from the tradition, no offence intended! I had completely forgotten about this tune until I heard it on a "Hidden Fermanagh" CD, grabbed a whistle and played it through. It's fairly close to the recorded version. I associate it the late, great Mick Hoy, fiddler, singer, story-teller and one of most entertaining people I ever met. I consider myself very fortunate to have enjoyed his company on several occasions in the late 70s and early 80s. I learned the tune c. 1981 from Gary Hastings, the mighty Belfast fluter who is now a Church of Ireland minister in Westport, county Mayo. I forget whether Rev. Gary learned it from Cathal McConnell or directly from Mick. While I'm at it, I'll put in a plug for the 2 "Hidden Fermanagh" CDs which contain more tunes handed down by Mick and many other rarities. I have no idea what the title means, if it means anything at all. Thanks to Will H who gave my effort at transcribing my own playing of the tune the once-over. Hope it came out OK. If not let me know.

For those interested, "The Boys of 25", another one of Mick's tunes, has already been posted by Kenny.

Swing Swang

Good one , Longnote. I'd only ever heard this on the "Na Draodoiri" recording until the Fermanagh CDs and book came out. I was reminded of it a week past Tuesday in Miltown when Cathal McConnell, Sharon Creasey and Cyril Maguire played it at the flute /whistle recital. They played some interesting stuff.
ceolachan's right - it wasn't me who posted "Boys Of 25", but I did comment, and promise to post abcs of how I've heard it, which I see I never got round to. I will do that soon.
Just while I'm here, I did indeed see Mich Neilsen in Miltown - he was organising the house we were staying in, and sends his regards.

Yes, that's the tune. Sorry I got the contributor wrong. Maybe the tunes would make a nice set in memory of Mick.
