Michael Burke's

Posted in response to a request by Susie-Lee. This is transcribed direct from the Sliabh Notes recording. Sorry Kenny, didn't mean to butt in. I haven't got the Mary Staunton recording which you say contains a tune by this name. Is it the same tune?

I thought this tune's a bit similar to John Doherty's if you transpose it: http://www.thesession.org/tunes/display.php/662.

2 Burke's ?

No problem, Dow. I don't think this is the Mary Staunton tune, which sounds a bit like "Father O'Flynn" or parts of "Cherish The Ladies". I'll check, and post it anyway, if it is indeed a different tune.

Michael Burke's

A useful tune for the viola to play an octave down in sessions.

Michael Burke

The Mary Staunton tune was sourced from and named after Michael Burke of Inishbofin, Co Galway. Not sure if this is the same tune though. Michael plays his tune in a set with Father O'Flynn.

Michael Burke RIP

I am sad to report the death of Michael Burke of Inishbofin who passed away last month in Clifden hospital. He will be sorely missed by all who new him.

I think this might be a 2-part version of Cherish The Ladies http://www.thesession.org/tunes/display/590. Kenny pointed out the similarities earlier.

A pleasant little jig. It would work well in the middle of a set finished off with the Milltimber. What would you put in front of it?

Well, I shall know not to start this one next time I go to a session. :-D

Clearly a red-hot favourite the world over!

Oh now *come on*, people are, e'en as I type, off over yonder posting comments about what tunes to play with the dreaded Kesh ...
