This is the first polka of a set of 3 composed by myself while on a trip to the beautiful Glen clova. While out taking some photographs of this lovely part of Scotland with my pal Brian McKay, and his daughter Coralee, who both play, and Brian also composes, I had a seat in the sun, got my mandolin out the car and and wrote this polka. The three of us got the rest of the instruments out and had a great little session by the river for an hour. This is very easy with no added sharps or flats and can be played on a single row G button box as can the other 2 in the set. Plus any other common folk instrument. I brought up the single row box, because it can be really frustrating if you play one, and find a tune you really like which has a C sharp or whatever in it and sometimes it just does not sound right, even playing the best harmony note you can find This is my first attempt at submitting a tune to the site and I'm hoping to post the other 2 if this is OK.
I have not got round to chords for these yet, but as I play guitar I probably will soon. I realise it's a humble little polka, but I enjoy them, and hope you do also, so please have mercy on it.
Happy new Polka. Dexy

Glen Clova
Congrats Dexy on posting your first tune. Looks like you're on your way with abc's, not to mention polka composing! Nice tune, and nice story to go with it. A welcome addition to the repertoire.
Looking forward to the next two in the set,
Will

Quavers and Crotchets
Dexy, I now realize that I was telling you how to write *crotchets* in abc (with the "2"), not quavers. Years ago I was more familiar with the UK terminology, but now I use the quarter, eighth, and sixteenth language almost exclusively. Mea culpa. I'm glad you were able to decode the problem, and it was good for me to refresh my memory.
