This reel is based on a song called "Domhnall mac 'ic lain". It's a 'puirt-a-beul', or mouth music-song, which means that it is written with nonsense words. These words are cleverly chosen to represent the stressed beat and resonance of a tune as played instrumentally. I rewrote this song into a tune for my band, but I think te reel is nice enough to play it in combination with others.
