Joining tunes

The Doon reel goes well into The Congress Reel as a set.

Glenn Owen?

Hey you guys, the Doon Reel on John William's recording is different than the one on the CD I believe. (I don't have my copy) Does anyone have the abcs of John's version of the tune? I think its also called "Glenn Owen".

We always play the Cameronian before this tune. Don't know if that's one of those standard combination of tunes or not, but it seems to work well for us regardless.

Ah, posting the link. Good idea. Thanks for picking me up on my "Comments" fumble. ;-)

Shall I do it for you?

Disregard my now apparently awkward previous post

Yeah, it seems I can't read. I had posted comments today on both the pages for the Cameronian and the Doon. When I saw you had linked to a tune, I didn't read your header and for some reason forgot what tune's comment page I was on. Long story short, I thought you were posting the link to the Cameronian, the tune I had mentioned. Oy it's been a long day.

The Doon

I get bored with this tune when played double. I prefer it as a single:

"The Doon Reel" ~ as a single:

I also think this tune has the structure of a single reel instead of a double, and that it works better that way...

Agree with all that's been said about playing this tune single. It's a bit like the Mountain Road (another great tune) which is totally ruined when played double.

It goes well before the Mountain Top also.
