Got this tune from a recording of a session. A flute player and visiting fiddler both knew the tune but when I asked the name all they said was that there was that the source was Garry Shannon. Does anyone know what album it's come from and can tell me the correct title? The transcription is of the flute player's setting. The fiddler's setting was slightly different:

X: 1
T: Garry Shannon's

Two years later...

Two years later, here's the story. Gary calls the tune "Lose the Head." It's the 3rd. tune in the1st. medley on his first album, "Lose the Head."
It is also the 3rd. tune in a medley played by the great Breton flautist, Michel Bonamy, on a mid-80s Ceili Bandits tape. The only name I have for the medly is "Tricia Shannon's/Jerry Doyle's." I don't know to which tunes this refers, but I assume it is to the first two in the medley, since Michel would know that the 3rd is probably Gary Shannon's composition.

Lose The Head

Cocusflute, thanks for the info. On his homepage @ http://www.irish-flute.com/irish-flute/asp/page.asp?p=17, Garry says "I know absolutely nothing about Lose The Head. It caught my ear among a rake of other reels recorded at some mad session Milltown" which suggests that it's not his composition. I wonder if it's Michel Bonamy's...

Commonalty

I'm pretty sure this is a track on the eponymous Commonalty recording featuring Joanne and Paul McSherry, Davy Maguire and Milo Crossan. It came out in 1989.
Davy, the flute player, makes frequent trips to Brittany so maybe he got it from Michel or vice versa.
