The Man With Two Women

Transcribed from a Battlefield Band album.

Nice tune, David. Although at first glance I read the title as "The Man with Too Many Women." ;-)

I haven't heard the source track from Battlefield Band on this one, so I'm playing deaf here, but my own tinkering with the tune results in this:

X: 1
T: Man With Two Women, The
M: 4/4
L: 1/8
K: Dmaj

Main difference being the scalar run in the last measure of each part, which leads me to emphasize the "d", giving it a bit of Bretton pulse. Or am I completely off track?

The Man WithTwo Women

Yes,that sounds good, but I would play the run at the end of the second part too.

Is the Quebecois? (Just out of curiosity). I have a friend who plays with a dance group called "Homme et deux femmes", which he says is named after a type of dance. And maybe also a tune. You know, to go with the dance... His group also plays for dancers, who dance this dance. And it used to be comprised of a man and two women. Or something like that. Anyway, at first glance it seems to have that Quebecois swing to it.

oh, yeah, for the non-french among us, "Homme et deux femmes" is the literal French translation of the name of this tune.

This goes with another tune for the dance

According to Andre Brunet, this is always played after the other tune (also in D) for the dance which pairs a man with two women (he jokes about whether it's at night or not). "Rum and Onions" has a transcription of both tunes on their website.
I've also got this single tune recorded by "Mythes et Legendes" under le nom "8e reel".

Found another man with two women...

There is another charming 3 part tune with the same name I have found in one of my very old sheet music collections. Sounds like something Louis Beaudoin would play, nice syncopations and off-beats. Does anyone else have this other version they could translate into abc and post since I'm illiterate in that respect?

L'homme _à_ deux femmes, actually.
