I didn't think you did!! And anyway, I could probably think of a couple that could do with a kicking if I was that way inclined!! As you might be able to tell, I am far from being a perfect Quaker!!

Merrily KIssed the Quaker is a tune I play a lot but I didn't recognise this version of it - even after I played it!!

Hi Tarantella! Nice to see another Quaker at the session! I know the tune you speak of as "Merrily Kissed the Quaker's Wife". I should have played it at a ceilidh I put on for some Edinburgh Quaker friends a while back. Instead, I remember inventing a dance called the "Quaker Reel" - in amongst some more conventional moves were: a brief moment of silence, shaking your partner's hand and putting your hand in the air (a signal we used to use at young Quaker events to achieve quiet. The dance went down rather well - caused a few giggles!
I guess, Gian, if you called your tune "Merrily Kicked the Quaker's Wife" it might be a little non pc!

Hi Jakki - not too many of us around - but quality over quantity!! My fiddlemaker is the only Quaker in the town he lives in - must make for some quieter meetings than normal!!
The Quaker Reel sounds a great idea!

Sessions at the Quaker meeting
Greetings to you two Quakers. I'm not 'convinced' but i am married to a Quaker. And yes, since we moved, she is the only Quaker in town. But ten years ago when she went to meeting regularly, I would tag along, and meet up with another unconvinced Quaker husband. Believe it or not, we would have a small session outside the meeting each Sunday, whilst minding the children. They didn't take offence! But Quakers normally don't. And we did take delight in playing this tune at our small session.
