F# minor

Very old lovely tune. Not to be played too fast, in fact I first learned this as more of a slower listening piece. There are some opportunities for grace notes, but definately don't use any icky rolls. Keep it simple and sensitive with this one. i also would like to stress the balance of A major and F# minor in this tune, very nice. And in case you're wondering I'm pretty sure this one's Scottish, though it has elements of some standard Irish jigs and even hints at a lot of the more modern comps I've heard being played. Learned from an ould Scotsman who had a taste for the prettier tunes.

Cairngorm Mountain (or Mountains)?

If it's Scottish, is it not more like to be called "Cairngorm Mountain"? The Cairngorm Mountains are near Aviemore in the Scottish Highlands so the title might even be in the plural as they are usually referred to as such, ie Mountains rather than Mountain.
I'm afraid I don't know the tune but, perhaps, one of our other Scottish members might help?

Thanks for the info. I wasn't sure of spelling etc. Don't really keep track of stuff like that too much. I have no reason to beleive this isn't Scottish, and was told its an older (Scots) tune.

Yes, icky rolls are not called for in this tune. Learn to play a melody instead of rolling for once.
