Ragtime Annie

An American fiddle tune which has been very much a standard for American squares and running sets. The notation here is not quite as generally played. Herewith my ABC for the tune:

A pity comment has not been made by the submitter.

Version of the tune.

I stand corrected by "hetty". The version I posted was from Ralph Sweet's collection "Fifer's Delight"p.75 and is not in fact the way I play it. Instead, I play something much closer to what hetty submitted, but I don't know how to rectify the situation. To further complicate the issue, the timing of my submission is incorrect. L:1/16 was what I submitted. L:1/8 was given. Sorry!
Best copy the alternate of hetty and convert it yourself.

Hi! WB. I think you could log on, go back and edit your abc input. I hope I'm right.

You can edit the ABC, yes, but it will not correct the sheet music, as Jeremy only generates that once.

Does this sort of tune get played in Irish sessions in America?

When to play this tune.

I apologize to all for messing this one up. It is played here in a set with what we call "The Annie's". St. Anne's/Ragtime Annie.
I get into crossover tunes by playing a lot of 18th century sets at rendevous. And this is a popular set with the musicians. WB

But where's "here"? Are you in America?

# Posted on December 6th 2004 by Dow

Mark, I've only ever heard this tune played where there's old time played as well as Irish (which is when I usually hear St. Anne's as well, come to think of it).

Editing

Thanks for the info on editing, Zina, I've not had to edit anything so far but it helps to know the system.
