Quarry Cross

A lovely wee jig, from Joe Burke's flute LP "The Tailor's Choice".
The sleeve notes say : "I learned the first tune from John Cronin, the well-known Kerry fiddle player who now lives in New York. Professor Cronin also gave me the name for this tune, and I thought it as well to believe him as go looking for the truth" !!

So that's what they call it! And a good example of Burke's wit to go with it. I have been playing this for a while, but encounter few others who know it. I learned it from Scotsmen box player Laurence McElhinny (now in Ireland) and fluter Niall Kenny.

The Bridal Jig?

Zina already posted a different version of the tune a couple of years ago: http://thesession.org/tunes/display.php/1000
