AKA Colm O'Rua's Banjo is feeling ill
Composed in July 2003 after spending a week on Colm O'Rua's mandolin/banjo course at Sabhal Mor Ostaig. Colm's banjo was very busy that week teaching all day and playing in various sessions at night. It was rumoured that one night the banjo was up until 5 am. There were even suggestions that alcohol was involved. In the morning the banjo, feeling a little sorry for itself, had to get up almost immediately to teach the morning class. Colm, too, must have got up in something of a hurry that morning as he had put his red eyes in by mistake. And while Colm held on tightly to two cans of cold Coca Cola, which were obviously trying to escape, the banjo tackled the morning's tunes, with surprising success, in light of its poor health.
The posted version is the basic tune. It was composed on the mandolin and lends itself to endless triplet variations. A short reel so play double the number of times through. Slainte

Nifty Tune
Terrifically hypnotic - especially on a C mandola ... lots of positions to play this in. Thanks for posting
