Part of the set Mc Kenna's Jigs

This tune is - somewhat different - the first of the tune set
'McKenna' s Jigs' by Patrick Street (on Patrick Street no.2 and on Live from Patrick Street'). The second one is a version of 'The Nightcap' and the third one is called 'Up Leitrim'.

Here's a quick transcription of what Patrick Street is playing in that McKenna's Jigs set

My ABC skills are minimal, so I'm not sure if this is proper ABC, but my player plays it right...

Definitely different, but is it different enough to be another tune completely? Not for me to say ;-)

Connie the Soldier

The banjo player Eamonn Coyne recorded a bit different version of the tune as "An Gaoth Aniar Aneas" (meaning the South Wind?) together with Dermot Byrne on melodeon. A piping friend of mine played a somewhat similar version in a session last month and told me it's on one of Dervish's recordings.

Not to be confused with The West Wind or The South Wind (An Gaoth Anneas), this is a totally different tune.
I know this tune from Willie Clancy:
http://www.thesession.org/recordings/display/462
and Declan Masterson:
http://www.thesession.org/recordings/display/472

I cannot take credit for the ABC, I think it might be Henrik Norbeck's. I was surprised that this was not posted on this site before. (It was!)

* You beat me to it Jeremy. I'd saved it to add here later, but, as you can see, there's the proof, Shrog's comment... ;-)

The tune also appears on Mountain Dew's "Toss the Feathers" where it has more ornamentation. To my ear –
