"Itsbynne Reel" - get it?
I put together an ABC of this to share the tune with my band mates, so I thought I'd submit it here as well. Trad form + jazz influence = great tune, taken to the nth degree by Mr. Brecker on his album, but also given a nice treatment by the Boston Pops.

LOL, that's bad! My favorite B Pops track of "trad" music is when they tried to play Toss the Feathers and couldn't (or wouldn't) do any triplets or rolls on the repeated d's in the B part. So to approximate (I'm being kind here) the timing, they inserted rests. The result (instead of |A~d3 A~d3|A~d3 edcd| we were treated to |Adz2 Adz2|Adz2 edcd|) was hysterical, a huge orchestral stutter. Of course, it also did a great disservice to the tune.
But that's just my opinion, eh?

"Itsbynne" a while since I heard any pseudo-trad piece this awful -- get it?

So long itsbynne good to know you? If this is a nice treatment, then I've been missing the point all those years ...

Okay - if you can't handle crossover, don't bother.
Both albums are Grammy winners, both are good music played by great musicians. If your purist tendencies get in the way of enjoying the tune, you'd best skip this one. Nuff said.

I have played in solid "pure drop bands", ballad bands, a German folk-rock band, even with a Finnish pop singer doing Irish songs, I have been far from a purist. I have doubtless been involved in more crossover efforts than the Boston Pops or Mr Brecker. This may be cross-dressing, but not crossover. Good musicians do not always produce good music especially when they venture into an area where they completely lack the training. You are as free to think this is a great tune, as I am to think it's crap. Thanks for the reply, Itsbynne fun.

I happened upon this whilst browsing the tune archives today. I must browse more often - I can't believe I missed this gem. Needed a laugh today - thanks!

I've just had a listen. the comments here are certainly funny but unfortunately, the music itself is nothing to laugh at!

This isn't trad -- it's movie music.
