I'm very familiar with Cambo as my family had friends there for many years. These friends were descended from the Trevelyans who owned and lived in Wallington Hall, the stately home next to the village. I was curious who may have written this tune, and whether there was a connection to the family, as I believe they regularly held 'dances' for family and friends. I attended one of these a long time ago, and the music was unmistakably Northumbrian. I thought, as Cambo was such a small village, there may be a connection.
I remember writing a reel entitled 'Cambo House' whilst I stayed with them one Christmas. I haven't played it for a while but maybe I'll post it in a day or two.

Ned Pearson (1876 - 1964)
A fiddler from Cambo and the source for this tune. He didn't have a name for it. Apologies that I missed adding that. I was 'distracted' at the time. I love his playing but there is little of it surviving, as far as I know.
10 examples of his playing can be found here, as well as that of others, 23 tracks:

Nice contribution Jakki. Ned was in fact the gameskeeper to Sir Charles Trevelyan for a time...

And thanks Jakki for waking me up and drawing me back to an unfinished job. I'd been distracted to other responsibilities and things before I'd completed the comments for the Cambo Mazurka/Polka-Mazurka. Today I'm baking again. This tune was another of the many nameless ones out there, given the name 'Cambo' by me, in honour of traditions and a fiddler it used to nurture...
Someday I hope to visit the place.
