Given the 'Midwest' US, and a strong mix of Scandinavians with the Irish, this has found its way into a lot of different venues, from Norse Halls to Police Balls, mostly known as a waltz, though its 'Pols/Mazurka' roots are evident and it swings nicely there. It isn't uncommon for mazurkas to be used as waltzes or for folks to waltz to a mazurka... There were also 'Mazurka-Waltz' dances, and numerous other combinations...
