Sorry, another of mine - but with a story. I just stumbled across this in a crumbling envelope. It was written maybe 20 years ago, for a friend's funeral. I suppose as I felt then, and having heard other folks I'd known and loved, who were musicians and dancers had gone before me, this tune hasn't quite made up it's mind, the B part goes for a stroll, which is probably what I'd do if I saw pearly gates. As I once told someone who thinks themselves holier that me, as I was being threatended with 'hell' - if all those wonderful folk who I've had the pleasure of knowing are going there, because they don't agree with your creed, well, even if it is hanging upside down in shight, I'd rather be in their company - at least we could find the humour in our predicament, whatever that might be. I wouldn't think to rob them of their faith, but I also wouldn't miss their company, or a place populated by those who make a practice of passing judgement on others.

The person who's funeral raised this inspiration to dance this through my head, was a saint in my little world, a fine musician, but also just a damned nice person and a good cook too, and a best friend, missed... The last act he did before cancer took him, a brain tumor, was to play music I'd given him, tunes and the instrument he played them on.
