Light and Airy

You bet it is. Just came from a session where Gilles Losier played this tune with a few other F jigs. This was by far the coolest. I didn't ask him where he learned it. I cheated and stole this setting (minus the cheezy guitar chords) from JC's ABC tune finder because I want to put it in my tune book. A little cyber space redundancy never hurt anyone though, am I right?

Hmm, never heard this before but I bet it's an old Borders tune. Those 6th leaps are a dead giveaway. Kerri, if you like this try "Elsie Marley" http://www.thesession.org/tunes/display.php/1186.

Hey, thanks, Dow. I really like Elsie Marley. It'll go very well with this one, especially if I try to play it in F. I should mention for the benefit of those who can't pull an F off (heh, F off... oops...) I mean, those who can't play in the key of F, the most common setting in JC's was G, although I saw a few A transcriptions as well. I chose F cuz it sounds glorious in this key. (At least, Gilles made it sound gorgeous. We'll see if the infatuation with F lasts long when I try to play it myself).

"The Petrie Collection"

George Petrie's collecting of Irish music took place from 1789 to 1866 and his first collection was printed in 1855, a Supplement of an additional 34 tunes was printed in 1882, and his opus was printed in 1905, after his death, and included 1,582 traditional melodies. His collection includes this one in F Major, again for comparison:
