Light and Airy
You bet it is. Just came from a session where Gilles Losier played this tune with a few other F jigs. This was by far the coolest. I didn't ask him where he learned it. I cheated and stole this setting (minus the cheezy guitar chords) from JC's ABC tune finder because I want to put it in my tune book. A little cyber space redundancy never hurt anyone though, am I right?

Hmm, never heard this before but I bet it's an old Borders tune. Those 6th leaps are a dead giveaway. Kerri, if you like this try "Elsie Marley" http://www.thesession.org/tunes/display.php/1186.

Felton Lonnen http://www.thesession.org/tunes/display.php/1241 is another one that's along similar lines with the 6th leap thing happening.

Hey, thanks, Dow. I really like Elsie Marley. It'll go very well with this one, especially if I try to play it in F. I should mention for the benefit of those who can't pull an F off (heh, F off... oops...) I mean, those who can't play in the key of F, the most common setting in JC's was G, although I saw a few A transcriptions as well. I chose F cuz it sounds glorious in this key. (At least, Gilles made it sound gorgeous. We'll see if the infatuation with F lasts long when I try to play it myself).

It's actually a MacKintosh tune, published in the MacKintosh Collection - available from Taigh na Teud, www.scotlandsmusic.com
It's a lovely tune.

I just jumped to conclusions and assumed you meant Abraham Mackintosh, but just checked out the website and it's his father Robert.

"Light and Airy" ~ the history for some interesting comparions
Of the earlier takes on this I have seen, all the parts 'repeat', unlike the way it has been transcribed here by Kerri. This next one is very similar to the Welsh take previous ~

Have only just discovered the link through finding the same version as the one transcribed here by 'Kerri', (with the same name) which has been in my collection of tunes for years. Cannot remember where I got mine from though.
