Source of tune
I learned this from an English country-dance tune book. I thought it was a Playford tune, but have seen references on the net to it being written by Pat Shuldam-Shaw, so I'm not sure. It's a great tune, though.

Pardon me, but your scales are showing.

Fair enough, but a lot of tunes, particularly some of the simpler English tunes (forgive the generalisation!) are often based on scales or scale fragments. Sure, this example makes them a little obvious, but it still a pleasant enough tune.

Yep...one person's "great" tune is another's "pleasant enough." Agreed.

Morecambe Bay
I can confirm it was written by Pat Shaw and the tune and dance was composed for Pat Wilkinson and her dancers for a ball held at Lancaster about twenty years ago.
I played for Pat regularly at her weekly dance classes aroung the Lancaster and Morecambe area.
Pat Shaw stayed regularly in the area and has written many tunes with local connections.
