Hurlock's Reel

I got this tune from a friend of mine, Gaale Klein, a flutist. I don't know where she got it.

Tom Anderson

This is a very well known Shetland tune written by Tom Anderson. So there, :-)

Is the first note of the 2nd bar of the B-part not supposed to be an F# rather than a G#?

Re F#

Yes. I play F sharp there but there's one or two other slight differences too.

Absolutely Lovely -

Is this on the Silver Bow collection / CD? I don't recall this name ... but then I don't have the CD nearby.

Like so many Shetland tunes, it just swings along. Thanks for posting it.

As a fiddle tutor with the Orkney Traditional Music Project (OTMP), I would like to say that the Hurlocks Reel is a tune we teach our intermediates and they absolutely love it!!!

Also, the more advanced players in the OTMP play it with Willafjord and Spootiskerry, both Shetland reels as well.

Hurlock's Reel

Played this for the first time in a session last night, but in G - as preferred by the flute and concertinas. It was followed by Robertson's Reel, also in G. I'll post Robertson's in the next few days, but I'll transpose it to A so as to fit in with Hurlock's for those who wish to play them as a set.

& the G transcriptions? ;-)
