It might be in 22/8, but the range is slight and the tune is slow. If it were a song, I think even I might be able manage it. The Balkan tunes from the Andy Irvine corpus don't really come any easier than this. But it still sounds very good on the CD.

I have this tune on a CD by Danny Thompson and his band, who do these tunes really well. I went to see them live and it was one of the best gigs I've ever seen. BTW I understood that this was a Macedonian "Oro" rather than Bulgarian "Horo", but I could be wrong.

Dropping the H
Yep it should be a macedonian Oro, not a Bulgarian Horo. Don't know how that one slipped by me twice!

Well...running late for this one...nice tune. There's a very good version, recorded by Ross Daly (an Irishman living in Greece who's playing the Cretan Lyra among other instruments) & Friends on an album called Kin Kin.
This is usually transcribed as 22/8.

Go on Mario, this is where you could add a transcription without any danger of guff...

LOL...'c'...a casual (or not so casual?) reader could easily be lulled into believing that you're agitating...
So you're taking the part of the...how you call it...agent provocateur? Advocati diaboli?
And there's really no need for a new (or different) transcription, as it is absolutely accurate. Only thing is that these tunes are really transcribed as 22/8. No need for a change of time signature. Stepwise, it would be
2-2-2-3 / 2-2-2-3 / 2-2, or 9/8 - 9/8 - 4/8.
Love that Balkan stuff! Also Greek music. And Asia Minor & Turkey have a lot to offer as well! Ah....!
