Kathy Flaherty's Claim to Grace
Written while playing a solo gig a JD McGurks in St Louis a few years ago. I wasn't supposed to be a solo act, but the other two performers cancelled out at the absolute last moment. I was very fortunate to have Andrew O'Brien fill in with his mighty fiddle playing a few nights a week which helped me maintain a good attitude. This tune reflects my deeper mood at the time. It also marked the beginning of a pretty proliffic tune writing period for me.
It is meant to be played slightly slower than usual reel tempo...although, I have never played it any faster, I am curious what it would sound like at neck-breaking speed. Someday....
