Easier to play if you don't practise.
This is not a difficult tune by any means. While I had never any problems with the mechanics of the tune, I found that I could play it a lot more sweetly and with better feeling, once I had left it alone for a few months--hence the discussion.
I sometimes play it 3 or 4 times moving "up a string" to play the tune in the key of A. It makes a nice contrast but it's not compulsory.
