Cullenstown

Someone requested this many moons ago. A composition by one of the mouth-organ-playing Murphy brothers - ( was it Phil? ).
First heard it in Kevin Burke's "Raheen" medley on "Up Close", which featured all three Murphys. Recorded by "Altan" on the "Blue Idol" CD. They play it in G, then move up a notch to A as the last tune in the set.

This is one of the favourite tunes of a local box player. I can play along with him in the session, but I always don't remember how the tune goes when I'm back home. Thanks, Kenny. He always plays Kitty Jones after it. It's a lovely set.

Cullenstown

This was played in almost every session I heard in Cork, and I heard Seamus Creagh do a great version there as well. He has recorded this on an album with Aidan Coffey which I will post when I'm back home. Really enjoying the tunes you're posting at the moment.....

The Trip to Cullenstown

My version based on Paul Smyth and Mike Cooney's flute and pipes duet playing:

Bdde dBGA | B2 GB AGEG | Bdde dBGA | BAAG A2 GA |
BABd e2 dB | dedB AGEG | B2 GB AGEG | DGGF G3 A:|
Bd d2 ce e2 | Bdde dBGA | Bd d2 edef | gedB A2 GA |
BABd e2 dB | dedB AGEG | B2 GB AGEG | DGGF G3 A:|

This is a fairly easy yet gorgeous flute tune. Try mixing Kenny's version and mine.

Much more fun to play in A on the Fiddle.

IMHO it's one of the best reels for harmonica. It was composed by Phil Murphy (he's father).
There is nice video of Noel Battle playing this reel http://comhaltas.ie/music/detail/comhaltaslive_332_2_mouth_organ_chamption_noel_battle/
