Great tune! I originally got this as a "Gan Ainm" in Galway, but then was ecstactic when I heard it on the Live from Matt Molloy's album, and it actually had a name. I just wish more people around the sessions I frequent played this tune. Anywho, glad to see it posted.

Oh, and this tune is also on Brendan Callahan's "Where I Am" CD. In his liner notes, it is on track 6, but is listed as "Gan Ainm", so that explains why it does not appear on the list of recordings for this tune.

This is one of my favourite jigs which is sometimes called Brendan Larrisey's - does anyone know if this tune was composed by Brendan or if it is just associated with him.

The Kilmovee

Thanks, Jack. I happened to record Paul Smith playing this tune on Radio Ulster programme Culan, which sounds really familiar to me. In a minutes or so I remembered Gary and Mary Shannon play it on "The Sanctuary Sessions" recorded at Cruises in Ennis. Yeah, Bannerman, they call it Larrisey's and they move on to Kitty's Rambles, which Zina already posted here. Great tune. I think I heard it in Leeds too.

The Kilmovee

Thanks for posting this great jig-I had been looking for it under GROGAN's and couldn't find it.It's listed in Micheal O Raghallaigh's Nervous Man as such"associated with Dermot Grogan, flute and box player from Mayo but living in New York.."

It seems Dermott Grogan is from Kilmovee. No wonder it's called "Grogan's."

You can also hear this lovely tune on Mary Staunton's CD 'Bright Early Mornings'.
