Old warhorse but I prefer the word "classic"

This is a wonderful tune which may be overplayed where you live but I always love it. It was at one time the theme tune for the series "The McFlannels" on the old BBC Scottish Home service in the 1950s.

More recently, Altan have recorded it as part of the "Germans" set on the album Runaway Sunday. I believe it's popular played in that style in Donegal. Play it in whatever style you like. It's a great tune.

I love this tune, even though it may be a warhorse. It's the first strathspey I learned, even though the person who taught it to me commented that it was a 'strathspey lite', but didn't tell me why.

Strathspey Lite

I can see why... rhythms are very simple, and its just making use to the D major scale up and down. Its a good starting piece though. :D
