As promised
As discussed in the thread "learning styles", I have made good on my threat to write a tune called "the drab plateau". This is only the second tune I've written in nearly four years of playing. My hope is that I can discover something new about the music through writing to help me break out of the rut I feel I'm in.

You should write MORE!
I really like this tune! It sounds to me like it has quite an unsettling quality, but I REALLY like it, and it's in my tunebook.

The composer's thoughts 3 years later:
What on earth was I thinking? I haven't seen, heard or thought of this tune since I posted it, and now when I listen to it... well - I can't really play it. It doesn't make sense. It's a bit funny. If I heard somebody playing this at a session last week I would probably have leaned over and said "Jeez, that's a bizarre tune, where on earth did you get THAT!!??" without realizing for a second that I wrote it myself.

And three years after that, Kerri, I just don't hear anything very unusual about it. I sight-read it with no trouble except for the string-leaping in the C part, which would doubtless smooth out with practice. It's a fine tune, but I don't hear the exoticness you guys are talking about.
