"A stranger in its home"
Surprisingly, this hornpipe doesn't get played too often these days in Sandy Bells. It was written in honour of the famous pub by Will Smith from Shetland and has been recorded by Hom Bru and Kevin Macleod. The version here is roughly the one I play(give or take a triplet or two, depending on my mood) and is quite close to Hom Bru and Kevin. There is a version to be found in J.C's ABC tune finder which is a bit different and I've not heard it played quite like that.

Stranger ..?
Well done John. Pretty close to the way I learned it. I often wondered if they ever play it in Sandy Bell's.

Sandy Bells Hornpipe
The tune was written by Rob Smith from Shetland, who was at university in Edinburgh, in the early 70's, at the same time as another great composer of Shetland tunes Ronnie Jamieson, they both played regularly in Bells.
