Idle Bairn
What a surprise to find this tune on The Session I wrote it in1982/3 and published it about a year later in a book of tunes for smallpipes and fiddle called 'Dishalagie'.
In the dialect of the north Northumberland coast where I live, 'idle' means mischievous and the tune was named after the daughter of a friend of mine, John Dixon, when she was going through a toddler tantrum phase.
Joe Hutton taught me to play the pipes in the mid 70s and we remained good friends till his death, hence him recording it on 'Harthope Burn'.
I'd be pleased to see my name linked as composer to the tune.

Wow - I always wondered where the tune came from and if the composer was known. Thanks very much for the info!
