Küsnacht

From the excellent album 'The Well Tempered Bow' by Liz & Yvonne Kane, written by flute/fiddle player Johnny Mc Carthy, whilst in Switzerland -The title translates as 'Kiss in the Night'
I have transcribed it straight from the CD, so I included the ornamentation as best I could (despite many of you saying the abc should be unadorned) - if you don't like the decoration just ignore it or make up your own, but I think it sounds nicer with it in
I love the tune, and it will probably develop as I play it more anyway
Liz & Yvonne call it a slow piece, but I've included it as a waltz simply because it sounds right to me

I was just learning this one.

Thanks Derek, this tune was literally next on my list. I love these "slow pieces," but I think I might have an idea why they don't call it a waltz. When we play for set dancers they semm to want waltzes to go at a fairly good clip, but occasionally we play for contra dancers and they start throwing things at us or dancing something called "hombos" when we play Irish waltzes the way we normally do. It's funny because when we play something like Kusnacht at the set dances, they stand around and stare at us. They look as though they're thinking, "That's really lovely, can you play a waltz next?"

Anyway, I was playing along with the recording and I noticed a couple of minor discrepancies between what I heard them doing and your ABCs. I'm no expert at the whole ABC thing, but I posted what I heard below. Thanks again for helping me get this tune into my concertina.

Küsnacht

A great tune and I will learn asap!

The translation of Küsnacht as Kiss-Night is a wonderful idea, but not the official version.
The name goes back to «fundus Cossiniacus» the farm of Cossiniacus.

Living next village to Küsnacht, this is the first local tune I've heard ;-)
Küsnacht is a suburb of Zürich where many a healthy family lives, C.G Jung lived and worked there as well as the piper Joe McHugh what might be the story behind the tune.

What happened to the name of the poor tune?
K -2boxes -cht. Is this some font problem on my computer or does everyone see squares??
If K 2boxes is a village what is Z 2 boxes.........?

I just worked out that it must be a suburb of Zurich.

K?t

I submitted is 'Kusnacht' with the 'u' having those two small dots over it - could be a font problem since the dots dissappeared in the transition and it came through as K?t
Great tune with or without the dots though !
