This is how I play it, and very close to the version in O'Neill's 1001, #604.
The fiddler's companion has this to say: A song written by Egan O'Rahilly on the occasion of the marriage of the Jacobite Lady Iveagh's second daughter to Lord Kenmore in 1720, the Kilkenny star being, of course, the bride.

Tom Morrison recorded another different version of this tune in the 20s. Its close to O'Neill's opening bars but considerably different elsewhere. I haven't learnt it fully so can't submit the version myself but have a listen anyway.

Laurence Nugent's "Windy Gap" seems to have an odd version of this tune with a completely different second part; its a good version though; wondering if anyone else knows the origin of this version

Nugent's version....
Fit like, Niall ? Sleeve notes say he heard the reel from Sean McCusker, accordion player from Co.Tyrone. Most likely the McCusker fella, or whoever he learned it from himself, mixed up or "mis-remembered" the 2nd part of the tune. Larry Nugent's recording is certainly the only occasion I've ever heard that particular version of the tune. Must say, I prefer the original, but I'm a huge fan of Larry Nugent's playing.
A' the best.

Laurence Nugent's version
Is like this one, but transposed to E dor:

tune-wise, his is way more familiar to me. In these here parts I've heard Laurence Nugent's "An Gabhran" tune called Thaddy Casey's repeatedly.
