Outstanding
Very nice Jig ... the first ornament on the opening E ... how do you normally play this? I've tried it as a trill and a slur from the D to E - both sound nice but - how do you do it? I've played this both on a mandolin and mandola and it just rocks.

On the concertina I do a sort of triplet "pseudo-cran" on the low Es in bars 1 and 2, so it comes out as:
EE/A/E BAF|AFE E/A/Ec|
On mandolin/mandola I would have been more inclined to go:
EE/E/E BAF|AFE E/E/Ec| where the pick pattern is either:
DD/U/D DUD|DUD D/U/DD or:
DU/D/U DUD|DUD D/U/DD
To be honest I've only just tried it on mandola today for the first time.
If I could play fiddle, it would probably be more comfortable to do a roll for the first E, but I can't play fiddle.

Another thing I sometimes do is a sort of hammer-on ornament where you brush your finger briefly over the strings at the 4th fret without actually fretting them properly, just before you pick the 2nd E. This only really works if you're playing a more swung, dotted rhythm, because that gives you more time to do stuff between the 1st and 2nd Es. It surfaces as:
|E{FE}EE BAF| where the {FE} is hammer-on/pull-off, and the other Es are picked DUD.
I don't know what you'd call it. I use it a lot though.
