Reel to Follow Tamlin

This reel is very effective when played immediately after Tamlin (aka Howling Wind). Unfortunately, I don't know the actual title - can anyone help?

Nice tune

I like this tune quite a bit, never heard it before. I always like flat key tunes they have that dark moody feeling that cooks.

Sounds like...

This tune reminds a little bit of "The Maids Of Mitchelstown". But that might just be because of the key signature.

The opening phrase sounds a *bit* like the start of Maids of Mitchelstown. After that, the two tunes veer off in seperate directions, though.

Variation, or a new tune

Brad and JeffK,

Back in August, before The Big Gloom, JeffK posted a cool little melody in Dm under Gan Ainm (reel), but the second half left me wanting more. So I noodled around with it and came up with a new B Part. Maybe it's a new tune altogether, maybe it's just a variation on the theme, in the tradition of traditional players tinkering with the aural, somewhat flexible nature of the music....

I play each half once (ABAB) rather than twice through (AABB), and I like it either as a slow reel, or up tempo.

Still in Dm
Last two measures of the first half would go:
|AFGE FEDC|A,CDE D3 A|

and the "new" B Part is:
|ABcB AF (3DEF|ECCD EFGB|Adce dcAF|GFEG FDDA|
|ABcB Adfa|gecd efge|fdec dcAF|GECE D3 A|

An Dro?

I experimented a bit with the tune and moved it to other modes and I finish up with this version, played as an "An Dro"
