Paddy Fahey's
I recently learned this tune off Liz and Yvonne Kane's cd The Well Tempered Bow. I really like how it starts off in G dorian or minor, with the B flats, then effortlessly slips into G major. I transcribed it in G major because that's how it resolves, and the B flat is the only accidental (all the Fs are sharps).
I can't get enough of this album by the Kane sisters. They follow this jig up with another Paddy Fahey jig in C major, which I'll post tomorrow.

Nice tune Will, are there any other albums playing so many Paddy Fahey tunes!!

Didja notice that they (the Kanes) go to G major on the repeat of the B part? Except I think they did something different on the final B.

Paddy Fahey's: Flute-Friendly Version
I was about to post this version as a new tune:

I don't know which is closer to the original, but I believe this one is more common than the Kane sisters version. I learned it from the Leeds Ceili Band, and I've just heard Padraig Rynne playing a very similar version on the concertina in a sample clip of his solo debut album. I'm sure I heard it played by some other musicians.

This version I found on a tape titled "Call the Tune", from "Music for the Sets" and is matched with "Sliabh Russell" and "Munster Buttermilk"

The one "windybear" posted above is a different tune and already transcribed here: http://www.thesession.org/tunes/display/532/comments#comment275474

A different version of this appears on Fisherstreet's "Out in the Night" as the 2nd tune in the Paddy Fahy's jig set.

An idea for a variation of the 1st line from the recording is

Also, Dow, you might want to review your ABCs - there's an extra quarter note in the 4th bar of the B-part.

No, the version I transcribed is actually an Eastern European with one special bar of 7/8. You have to count "di-di-di daah daah".

Numbered as #10 on the elsewhere mentioned thesis.
