This is a modified highland pipe setting. The original ornaments have been changed from the piping ones to something more universal. It seems to be something of a rare tune. I have only heard it played once live, and there do not seem to be many recordings of it. I think it suffers from repetition, but it sounds nice on the pipes.

Flags ?

Where did this come from, Paddy ? The reel I know as "The Flags Of Dublin" has been recorded by by Mick O'Brien, Arty McGlynn and Harry Bradley, and probably a few others, but this is nothing like it. Just curious.

The source is "Traditional Irish Music for the Bagpipe," by Dave Rickard. As i mentioned before, it is a setting for the highland pipes and so might have been changed to suit the range. I'd be interested to see the other version, as it perhaps more widely known.

This is what I believe to be a reasonably standard version of this tune.
