Sounds like a version/relative of Cronin's in D rather than the usual G?

TItle
I just Googled the 3rd measure and found the tune at http://users.argonet.co.uk/users/gatherer/books/mfi/mfabc/omaho.abc
where it has the titles:
O'Mahony's
The Hatter's Hornpipe
Prendiville's Hornpipe
Clareman's Hornpipe
And it sure does have a striking similarity to Cronin's.

Recording
I can hear in my mind's ear a recording of this tune. Slow. Possibly with someone dancing to it. Could it be Gearoid ohAllmhurain or however the hAll he spells it?
Ah, sure enough there's a hornpipe called "Kit O'Mahoney's" listed on the contents of Tracin', by Gearoid and Patrick Ourceau. I'll have to listen on the way home (the CD is in my car!) to confirm that this is it, but I'm pretty sure.

It's a great hornpipe but definitely not Kit O'Mahony's which is on Gearóíd's CD and was also a favourite of the legendary Clare concertina player from Kilmaley, Paddy Murphy.

You're right. I listened in the car. I haven't been able to find a recording yet. It's in the Green Book of session tunes in the Ossian series, edited by Geraldine Cotter, under the title "The Clareman".

Title
It is O'Mahoney's but not the "Kit" type.
The Fiddler's Companion has this to say about the tune:
CLAREMAN'S HORNPIPE. AKA and see "Fáilte Go hÉirinn," "Hatter's Hornpipe," "O'Mahoney's Hornpipe," "Prendiville's Hornpipe." Irish, Hornpipe. D Major. Standard. AABB. Denis Murphy and Julia Clifford recorded the tune as "O'Mahoney's Hornpipe."

Right. Turns out I did have a recording in the car, but not the one I was thinking it was. Murphy/Clifford, cut 2 on "Star Above the Garter", paired with "Stack of Barley". Before leaving for work this morning, I sat down to play "Clareman's" and found myself automatically going into "Stack of Barley", though I'd never played them together before and I don't even really remember the latter. Half an hour later, I got in the car and found the recording of the two tunes as a set.

Thank's a lot for the info everyone.

So David, how's about you replace Gan Ainm in the header with Clareman's or O'Mahoney's?

O'Mahoney's
This gets played in G in our session. I've found some versions in G online - first this:

And this from the Mulcahy family:

John Blake and Lamond Gillespie recorded the G major version, which is like a composite of the two versions Dow posted above. They cite Denis Murphy and Julia Clifford as the source, so I guess the Mulcahy family also learnt it from "The Star above the Garter" CD.
