Friel's Reel
This is a great lively tune, which takes a bit of working out in the second part, but will reward the least effort. I originally learnt it from a CD of Glasgow's St. Roch's Ceili Band, which an excellent fiddler from that school gave to me. The school has contributed several well known traditional musicians (Stevie Campbell, Gerry Conlon, Lawrence McElhinney, Mark Maguire, Claire McLaughlin, John McCusker, Gavin Pennycook) and regularly achieves (in groups and as individuals) in the all Ireland Fleadh. This tune came from the playing of Celine Donoghue on Banjo and it certainly suits the Banjo well. I've played it into a fiddle arrangement and thats what you have here with some suggested ornaments and bowings.

on the mary bergin album "Feadog stain" it is the very first reel on track number 1 titled "ríl Gan ainm"

The version posted here seems to be based on Cathal Hayden's setting from his album "Handed Down". He calls it Mary Bergin's, so presumably this is his highly stylised version of her much simpler setting, which you can find here http://www.thesession.org/tunes/display/2622.
