Pride Of The Bronx
Requested by craic90. This is from the recording made by Oisin MacDiarmada, Brian Fitzgerald, and Brian Rooney. I recently posted a reel, “Johnny Cronin’s”, and according to the CD sleeve notes, this is another tune associated with him.

This shares a lot with Kerryman's Daughter, kinda like so many Amin/Ador tunes sound alike. Different enough to be interesting though....

Thank you very much, Kenny. I have been searching this tune for a long time, heard it often played in Co. Clare in a set with the reel version of Charlie Harris polka, named John Blessings.

This title was attached to a key-of-D setting recorded by Johnny Cronin in the 1970s on his Shanchie LP with Joe "Banjo" Burke and pianist Gerry Wallace (all three sady no longer with us). It's a relative of a reel recorded by Johnny's Brother Paddy in the 1950s and called variously "The Purty Girls" or "Purring Girls of Our Town." Padraig O"Keeffe was Paddy Cronin's source.

McGreevy's
John Williams calls this tune "McGreevy's Favorite" on his self-titled album. If its not a mistaken naming, this is probably another tune associated with Johnny (or is it Jimmy) McGreevy.
