Clare Reel No. 1
Two reels, this and surprise surprise Clare Reel No. 2 have turned up at our session, handed across from a nearby workshop. I don't know their origin, or if they have proper names. They sound more like barndances, and have an unusual (at least the way we play them) character. I'd be very grateful if anyone recognises this one.

Martin, this is Joe Bane's, posted here just last week (http://www.thesession.org/tunes/display.php/2353). Nice tune.

Thanks Will. I've replaced it with Clare Reel number 2, again searching for fragments of the ABC have not turned anything up - do you recognise it? TIA

Aha, Martin, now you've got the Ravelled Hank of Yarn, which (surprisingly) doesn't appear to be in the database here yet. Congratulations! And a nice tune it is. too.

Ravelled Hank of Yarn
A great tune which I think was associated with the playing of Piper Willie Clancy.

LOL, no one's said that to me since the time I jump started a car sitting up to its axels in flood waters....

Were they holding the ends of the leads at the time?

That's it.

but his version seems closer to the Doon Reel, although it is that possible both tunes have a common origin
