The man from bundoran

as far as i know altan gave this tune it's name but i think there was another name for it but pat kelly (the guy altan got it from couldn't remember it) would love to know what it's also called. marc

Paddy Kelly's

I've always known this as one of "Paddy Kelly's", who never gave names to any of his compositions.

I learned this tune c. 1982 as "The Man from Bundoran" long before Altan recorded it. I was told that it was a composition of Paddy Kelly who came from Bundoran, a slightly shabby, but still popular holiday resort on the Donegal coast.

3 Paddy Kellys !

"LongNote" has it right here. I'd always assumed it was the Galway Paddy Kelly who wrote this tune, but as well as the fiddler Patrick Kelly from Cree, Co.Clare, there would appear to be a 3rd one with the same name from Bundoran, and this is his tune, according to both "Altan" and James Kelly, Paddy O'Brien & Daithi Sproule's recordings.
