Marcas' liner notes say the source was Packie Russell. This was a favorite of Dermot Grogan as well.

Micho setting

On the CD "Ireland's Whistling Ambassador," Micho Russell plays this tune, which he calls "Come into the Town My Fair Lady."

The name "The Chicken that Made the Soup" is similar to "The Whole Chicken in the Soup" aka "The Hen and All Her Broth," a Munster version of "Maggie Pickens" that is unrelated to this single jig. All these names may all be translations of the same Irish-language name, applied to two different tunes.
