I got this from Mick O'Brien and Caoimhín Ó Raghallaigh's album. In the inlay notes, Caoimhin describes it as "a real quare one - see what you make of it."

I can't argue with that.

He doesn't mention a source, but I believe it was in the repertoire of Denis Murphy and I doubt whether it has ventured much out of the Sliabh Luachra area.

It is a little bit odd. I like it a lot tho'.

On that Cnat in the 2nd part, I've discovered a chord of [c2G2] sounds nice on my concertina, instead of a roll.

M. O´Brien and C. Ó Raghallaigh play a huge glissando (portamento) from the B up to the c-natural - on pipes and fiddle. But, of course, you can't do that on concertina. I can't do it on mandolin, either, but I find that an 'appoggiatura' works nicely, i.e.

play c3B as BccB

Putting a heavy accent on the B and going lighter on the c that follows almost gives the efffect of sliding from B to c.

The abc of this tune needs a |: adding to the first part in order to make the sheet music print properly.

(I think ... I don't notice any other obvious glitches.)

I don't think that's the problem. The |: at the beginning of a tune isn't necessary in ABC and in formal sheetmusic it is usually omitted since there is nowhere else to go back to from the first repeat other than the beginning, unless there's a D.S. sign, so the |: becomes redundant. I think the sheetmusic file hasn't been uploaded properly. Perhaps we should ask Jeremy if he can have a look at it for us. Jeremy, could you please have a look at it for us? :-)

File name

The problem was actually being caused by the fàda in the tune title. If this accent is in the file name of the image, some browsers won't display the image.

I've changed the file name so it should work now.
